Michigan woman went on late-night food run, bought lottery tickets. Then she won a $1M prize Michigan Lottery: Kent County woman wins $1M prize on scratch-off
A late-night food run turned into a $1 million Michigan Lottery win for a 53-year-old woman.
The Kent County woman won her big prize playing the Michigan Lottery’s Lady Luck 777 game, according to lottery officials.
“I woke up hungry late one night, so I went out on a food run,” the player said. “While I was out, I bought a few lottery tickets and scratched them when I got home. It was shocking when I scratched off my Lady Luck 777 ticket and saw I’d won $1 million. I had a hard time going back to sleep that night!”
The woman purchased her winning ticket at D 28 Inc. at 5 28th Street Southwest in Wyoming, which is just southwest of Grand Rapids.
Michigan Lottery officials say she decided to accept her prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000.
She plans to save her winnings.
“I’m still in shock and it hasn’t fully sunk in that I won $1 million, so I haven’t made any special plans for the money just yet,” the player said.
Every $10 Lady Luck 777 ticket gives players the chance to win prizes from $10 up to $1 million.
